    The Mayflower ship lands at Cape Cod, Massachusetts
    When the Mayflower ship landed, it had about 102 colonists and about 30 crew members aboard the small 100-foot ship. On November 9, they sighted land, which was Cape Cod. After several days of trying to sail south to their planned destination of the Colony of Virginia, strong winter seas forced them to return to the harbor at Cape Cod hook, where they anchored on November 11. The Mayflower Compact was signed that day.

    Connecticut Colony was an English colony located in British America that became the U.S. state of Connecticut. After early struggles with the Dutch, the English gained control of the colony permanently by the late 1630s. The colony was later the "scene of a bloody war" between the English and Indians, known as the Pequot War. Aidrean Block was the European explorer of Connecticut and after he discoovered the land he went back and brought the settlers with him.

    The Dutch launch a naval attack against Manhattan to try and win back New Netherland during the third Anglo-Dutch War. Manhattan then surrendered. They capture other towns and rename New York to New Orange.

    Thirteen families from the town of Krefeld arrived in Philadelphia on October 6, 1673. These were the first German immigrants to estblished a community called Germantown which still exists within the city of Philadelphina today.

    Yale was founded in a nearby Saybrook as the Collegiate School to educate students for "Publick employment both in Church and Civil State." In over 300 years since its founding, Yale has worked to educate those who would become leaders and contributtors to every sector of society.

    The United States, under President Thomas Jefferson, purchased 828,000 square miles of land from France. This land acquisition is commonly known as the Louisiana Purchase . President Jefferson chose Captain Meriwether Lewis as the leader mainly because he knew already some of the west. Lewis wanted a Co-Captin and he choose William Clark.

    Before the Civil War, the South was mostly rural area and lacked transportation. After the Civil War, some from the Northen half came to the South to help them recover from the war, they gave the south roads, introduced factories, and education. In a way the war really helped the South by introducing new things to do.
