He was living with the Medici and working in the Garden of the Piazza San Marco in Florence, a Neo-Platonic academy of artists, poets and philosophers that the Medici had established.

He left Florence for Milan, where he made alot of paintings and drawing, but lost them all.

In Cesena, he entered the service of Cesare Borgia for whom he created a town plan of Imola and Chiana Valley and established him as a military architect and engineer.
