Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15th in Vinci, Italy. His father named Piero da Vinci and his mother a woman named Caterina; His parents never married. His father took custody of Da Vinci as his mother moved and married someone else.

Becomes apprentice to Verrochio

At age 15, Leonardo became an apprentice to Verrochio. He worked in his workshop. Da Vinci showed his talent very early in life.

Moves to Milan

Jan 1, 1482

Leonardo moved to Milan to work with Ludovico Sforza. It is during these years in which Da Vinci hit his peak in the fields of artistry and science.

Begins recoding studies in notebook

Leonardo kept a journal in which he wrote down his thoughts and inventions.

Bengins work on The Last Supper

The Last Supper was a painting that showed Jesus and his 12 disciples, when he was announcing that "one of you will betray me". This picture shows the shocked faces and emotions of his followers.

French Capture Milan. Da vinci moves back to Florence

While Da Vinci was living in Milan, the French army began to take it over. Because of this, Da Vinci was forced to move back to Florence.

Begins work on Mona Lisa

Probably the most famous painting every created, The Mona Lisa by Da Vinci. The oil painting is of Madonna Lisa di Antonio Maria Gherardini. Da Vinci used many new techniques to make this painting look so real and unique.

Begins work on flying machine

Da Vinci showed great interest in flying. In 1505, he began to build and test a flying machine.

Moves to Rome

Da Vinci moved to Rome where he took care of a workshop taking on many projects for the Pope. Leonardo continued to study human anatomy and physiology but the Pope did not let him study dead bodies for his research.

Da Vinci dies
