Battle of Formigny

Some background information on on this battle:
in the winter of 1449, a small English army, was assembled at Portsmouth. this armys leader was Sir Thomas Kyriell. Kyriell captured Valogens before the French could even concentrate their forces in opposition. As they moved on the went passed Carentan and started towards Bayeux. In the south the Comte de Clermont assembled an army. In the end Kyriell lost about 2,500 men the French only lost around 200 men.

Leonardo Da Vinci was born !!

Leonardo Da Vinci was born in Anchiano, Italy on April 15, 1452. leonardo was an illegitimate son of notary, Vincier Piero, and peasant girl, Caterina. Leonardo became a master painter, engineer, architect, anatomist, inventor and sculptor. "He had unlimited dreams of a god but limited power of a mad" (Thomas 49).

Leonardo is sent to Florence to work as apprentice.

At 15 Leonardo is sent to Florence to work as apprentice to Andrea De Verrocchio. Verrocchio was shown one of Leonardo's drawings and he was accepted to be his apprentice at once. when Leonardo was an apprentice he was guaranteed to be taught the subject of humanitited nd many artistic trade. When somebody became a apprenctice a oung as he did they were taught everything. He started by mixing colors and paint small parts of paintings.

Leonardo begins work on The Adoration of the Magi

Leonardo begins work on The Adoration of the Magi, an altarpiece for the Monastery of San Donato at Scopeto. He was supose to finish it within thirty months but left it mainly unfinished. In this painting there is people surrounding the Virgin and Child. Leonardos work was noteable for the way he tried to express the human emotion in his animals.

Usually when you see Mary in a picture she is the queen of heaven, but in this painting she is sitting on the ground with John the Baptist in her right arm and the Christ chile one her other side. John the Baptist is praying to Christ child and an angel points to St John the Baptist and the Christ Child blesses St John the Baptist.

the Battle of Basworth was fought between Richard III and Henry VII. This is that last major battle of the War of the Roses. King Richard III was defeated and killed by Henry Tudor, the earl of Richmond.

War of Roses

The War of the Roses was a civil war in England that lasted from 1455-1487. These thirty years of warfare did more damage to England than the Hundred Years War had been in the previous century. It was hard to claim the throne between the families of Edward III and Henry IV. King Richard died without and heir to the thrown, he was over thrown and killed by Henry IV.

Sforza Monument

Leonardo was paid by Duke f Milan to constrct a Bronze statue as a tribute to his father. It originally it was goin to be a life size staue of the late Duke of Milan on a horse but he thought it should be bigger so he made it 23 feet tall and weighed 80 tons. but the project was never fully completed. Leonardo spent years studding a horse and had to develope a new casting method to construct this.

Christopher Columbus landed in the Bahamas

After Christopher Columbus read The Travels of Marco Polo, he felt that he could reach the West Indies by traveling west across the ocean instead of heading east over land.Columbus left Spain on August 3 with three ships: the Pinta, the Niña, and the Santa Maria. He stopped at the Canary Islands and then took five weeks to travel across the Atlantic Ocean before reaching an island in the Bahamas which he called San Salvador.

Leonardo mad ethis painting and it got writers attention and intriged to wright about this. When you see this painting in real life and you look at at all different angles her facial expressions change depending where you stand. Da Vinci manages to capture so many different emotions and character-traits in one painting. Everytime you look at this picture you will always see something different.

This is an oil painting on wood.The pointing gesture that St. John is makeing toward the heavens suggests the importance of salvation through baptism that John the Baptist represents. This is to be belived that it increases the importance of a work with a religious conceit.

The battle of Marignan is an episode of the Italian wars begun by Charles VIII in 1494 to control the Duchy of Milan.This is the first victory of the young king Francis 1er during the first year of his reign, acquired at a high price: 16 000 dead in a few days. It will give rise to an intense propaganda developed by the monarchy to justify the expedition.

Leonardo died

It is said that Leonardo Da Vinci dies of natural causes and that he died in the arms of a friend. He was buried in the Chapel of Saint-Hubert in the castle of Amboise
