  • Manchuria

    Japan in economic trouble due to Depression. Japan controlled Korea.(easy step to invade Manchuria). Japanese stage incident along railway. Japan win over Manchuria and turn it into a puppet state. League send Lytton Committee to asses problem in Japan. Takes to long to get there, six weeks in Manchuria. Committee stated Japan at fault. Japan criticized but not punished. Japan leaves League 1933
  • Invasion of Abyssinia

    Italy Invades Abyssinia. (Depression). League dosn’t institute sections of oil. Britain and France want Italy on their side(Germany). Britain and France weak military. Hoare-Laval pact 2/3rds to Italy. Italy eventually envaded the entirety of Abyssinia.
  • Anglo-German Naval agreement

    German navy 35% of British Navy. Beginning of policy of appeasement.
  • The Anti -Comintern Pact

    Germany, Japan, and Italy. Against Soviet Union. Also insured no Japanese or Italian opposition
  • Remilitarisation of the Rhineland

    Neither France nor Britain reacted. Amending Versailles. Allied troops had already left the Rhineland. Dissolved Lorcarno
  • Spanish Civil War

    Germany joins to gain ally. Also as smokescreen for Anschluss. Soviet Union supports Republicans to distract Germany
  • Munich Agreement

    Sudetenland originally given to Czechoslovakia under saint-Germaine. Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia to Germany. Plebiscite to be held where dominant nationality disputed. Czechoslovakia not invited to discuss.
  • Anschluss

    Hitler wanted to unite German speaking. Hitler has meating with Austrian Chancellor Schuschnigg about persecuted Austrian Nazis. Schuschnigg proposes plebiscite and is told by Hitler to resign. Replaced by Nazi. Hitler invades Austria.
  • The Nazi-Soviet Pact

    Ten year non-agression pact. Hitler wanted to ensure no two front war. Buying time
  • Invasion of Czechoslovakia

    following Munich Agreement Czechoslovakia weak. Germany invades Czechoslovakia. End of policy of appeasement. France and Britain rearm. Britain and France promise allegiance to Poland
