Leading up to the War

  • Stamp Act

    Was a tax put on every piece of paper that the Americans used such as, ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed.
  • Townshend Acts

    The objection of this act was to cut the ta on British land and a way to tax the colonists. The law put taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea.
  • The Boston Massacre

    British troops shot and killed 5 American colonists. The British had the intention to show that they were not afraid to use force and violence if and when they need to.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The American colonists did not agree with the taxes on tea and they were angry and frustrated. The Sons of Liberty went on 3 British ships and dumb 342 crates of British tea into the harbor.
  • The First Continental Congress

    56 delegates from 12 colonies (no except Georgia) met in Philadelphia in response to the Intolerable Act.
