    Began 1881 with leadership by Samuel Gompers. There was 37,000 strikes in 1881-1905, the strikes were organized by labor unions. Strikes were held at building trades and coal miners. They protested for control of working conditions, setting uniform wage scales and the firing of a memeber.

    Many people started to flood in from around the country, looking for jobs, desperately. Soon Cripple Creek had a huge surplus of labor. In January, people thought the working day would increase eight to nine and ten, still with no increase of pay. Miners went on strike and set up rivot pickets and closed down mines. Eventually, the strike was broke and the cripple creek was over.

    The Great Railroad Strike
    This was a nationwide strike for railroad shop workers. The cause was the Railroad Labor Board's announcement, which was the hourly wages would be cut by seven cents. Workers were prompted to vote if they strike or not. 400,000 vacated positions increased hostilities between railroads and striking workers.
