The Federation of Oganized Trade and Labor Union (FOTLU) was formed. -
The American Federation of Labor
The FOTLO changed its name to the American Federation of Labor (AFL). The person who was in charge was Samuel Gompers. Gompers believed that by organizing skilled craft workers, the working class had the most to gain. -
The Haymarket Square Riot
Anarchist planned a rally in Haymarket Square which ended in violence. This came to be known as the Haymarket Square Riot. -
The Pullman Strike
George Mortimer Pullman, made a city where his railroad workers were required to live in. This city was in bad conditions. Also Pullman would deduct in their pay in order to pay for the city and would treat them unjustly. This caused the workerst to stike. -
Industrial Workers of the World
This union was formed by socialist, anarchist, and radial trade unioinist. There goal was to overthrow the employing class or in other word capitalism and instead place a social system. -
The Department of Labor
The government establisheed the Department of Labor in order to protect the wages and rights of the working class. -
The Clayton Antitrust Act
This law allowed workers to protest peacefully and in a non-violent way.
