    The Battle of First Bull Run
    The Battle of First Bull Run started on July 21, 1861. It was a one day battle, and the Confederate won. Its outcome sent northerns who had expected a quick, decisive victory reeling and gave rejoicing southerns a false hope that they themselves could pull off a swift victory. There was 3,000 Union casualties and 1,750 confederate casualties. Thomas J. Jackson earned his nickname "Stonewall". Reporters, congressman, and other onlookers who traveled long distances just to watch this battle.

    The Battle of Hampton Roads started March 8, 1862 and ended March 9, 1862. The Conferdate won this battle. Part of the Conferdate effort to break Union blockade to southern courts that have been inpossed to war. It begin new ara in naval warfare. The Union had 400 casualties and the Confederate had 100.

    The Battle of Peninsula Campaign started in March 1862 and ended in July 1862. Confederate victory in this battle, the Union side withdrawaled. Although Union troops outnumbered Confederate troops, McClellan ordered his troops to back off and retreat. News of the retreat caused northern morale to plummet.

    The Battle of Shiloh started April 6, 1862 and ended on April 7, 1862. The Union side won because the Confederates were unable to hold their positions. More than 23,000 casualties were wounded or killed in this war. Johnston was mortally wounded on the first afternoon. Both sides claimed victory, but Confederate failed. There is a Shiloh National Military Park where this battle took place to honor it.

    The Battle of Second Bull Run began on August 28, 1862 and ended on August 30, 1862. The two day battle caused the Confederate to defeat the Union. About 9,000 Confederate casualties. Morale in the North army sank to new depths because of this loss. McClellon almost got dismissed but Lincoln needed a speed reorganization of Union forces, so he left McClellan in command.
  • Antietam

    The battle of Antietam began on September 17, 1862 and ended on September 18, 1862. This battle was the first of the American Civil War to be fought on northern soil. It was the bloodiest day in American history and had more than 22,000 casualities. Although, all of the deaths and injuries, it helped Lincold gain the political cover he needed to issue his Emancipation Proclamation. The battle was inconclusive.

    The Battle of Fredericksburg started December 11, 1862 and ended December 15, 1862. This four day battle led to a Conferedate victory. This gave the Confederacy more confidence after unsuccesfuly tried to take Maryland. There were an outrageuous number of casualties. Somewhere around 13,000. Never the less there were only around 5,000 confederate casualties. Many blamed LIncoln for this crushing defeat because he pressure Burnside to lead the offensive.

    The Battle of Chancellorsville began on April 30, 1863 and ended on May 6, 1863. The Confederate won this battle after six days of battle. Robert E. Lee greatest victory during American Civil War was Chancellorsville. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, Lee's most trusted general, was mortally wounded. Lee gained the strategy mitiative, which in a few weeks would lead him north to Gettysburg.

    The Battle of Vicksburg began on May 18, 1863 and ended on July 4, 1863. This battle was a decisive Union victory. The surrender of Vicksburg to the Union greatly heartened the North and was the turning point in war for them. They isolated those Confederate states by west of the river from those in the east.

    It was a short two day battle. Starting on July 1, 1963 and ending on July 3. It was a huge union victory. This was a devastating lost for the confederacy. There were 23,000 Union casualties. But there were 28,000 Confederate casualties. More than a third of Lee's army. Lee then offered his resignation. But then Jefferson Davis refused it. The Confederacy would win other battles but Gettysburg turned the tide towards the Union.

    The Battle of Chickamauga began on September 19, and ended on September 20, 1863. After a day of fighting, the Confederate side won. As a result to the fighting, 10 generals were killed or wonded also having 20,000 casualties. The Union suffered from 16,000 casualties. Confederate side was losing at first, leading the Union to get safely to Chattanooga. The Confederate side came back and out fought the Union.

    The Gettysburg Address was a speech by Abraham Lincoln. It may of been one of the greatest speeches of all time. He gave it on November 19, 1863. He gave it at the cemetary of The Battle of Gettysburg. This speech redifined belief that the war wasnt just to save the union, but the struggle for freedom

    The Battle of Wilderness began on May 5, 1864. This battle was inconclusive. The Union army suffered over 17,500 casualties over two days of fighting. 7,000 suffered by Confederates, despite casualties, the Union side will not retreat because Grant didn't want to let Lincoln down.

    The Battle of Spotsyivania occured on May 8, 1864. This war was inconclusive. 18,000 casualties on the Union side and 11,000 on the Confederate. One of the bloodiest war, both sides had heavy loses. This battle ended on May 21, 1864.

    The Battle of Petersburg Campaign began on June 9, 1864 and ended on March 25, 1865. The Union side won this battle. Series of military opions, southern Virginia during final months of war to defeat of south.

    The Battle of Mobile Bay started August 2, 1864 and lasted until August 23, 1864. This battle led to the Union side to win. The union had 400 casualties and the Confederate had 50 casuatlies. Moblie Bay was in the Unions hands.

    The Battle of Sherman's March started on November 15, 1864 and ended on December 25, 1864. Nobody won this battle. Sherman's March was a name commonly given to Savannah's Campaign. The Campaign began with Shemans troops, leaving the captured city of Atlanata, Georgia. It ended with the captured of support of Savannah.
  • Appomattox

    The battle of Appomattox was a one day battle fought on April 9, 1865. This battle was the last battle of American Civil War with a complete Union victory over the whole war. It ended with a serrender from Confederate Robert E. Lee to Union general Ulysees S. Grant.
  • Lincolns Assasination

    Technically it would be a Confederate Victory since Wilkesbooth was trying to help them. Andrew Johnson was sworn in as president after Lincoln's death. Booth was just going to kidnap Lincoln and take him to Richmond. After Lincoln was shot Rathbone was stabbed trying to rush Wilkesbooth.
