Amir graduates from high school.
Amir states,“That summer of 1983, [he] graduated from high school at the age of twenty,"(131). He is by far the oldest in his graduating class. -
Amir turns 21.
Amir recieves a car for his birthday as it was,“the summer of 1984 – the summer [Amir] turned twenty-one,"(137). -
Amir meets Soraya for the first time.
Amir runs into Soraya at a flee market and is encaptured my her beauty. Trying to engage in interesting conversation he asks,"Would you like to read one of my stories?" (147). -
Baba is told he has cancer.
Although being diagnosed with cancer and recommended chemotherapy Baba chooses not to treat his cancer. Treatment to his cancer,"means it wouldn't change the outcome, just prolong it."(156). -
Amir marries Soraya.
Soon after just meeting, Amir asks his father, Baba to ,"ask(s) Gerneral Taheri for his daughter's hand." (161) They are then married quickly after. -
Soviet Union Became Widley Known as Useless
In Afganistan,"After 1986, the Soviet Air Force was also rendered largely useless by advanced Stinger aircraft missiles supplied by the United States to the rebels"(New York Times, 2) -
Baba passes away.
Amir says that,"Shortly after Baba's death, Soraya and [him] moved into a one-bedroom apartment in Fremont." -
Soraya and Amir move in together.
Baba passes away from cancer after it speans to his brain and amir states that,"Shortly after Baba's death, Soraya and [he] moved into a one-bedroom apartment in Fremont."(180). -

Finally, Afghanistan was no longer at war with the Soviet Union as,"the last Soviet troopa left Afghanistan in February, 1989"(New York Times, 2). -
Soraya and Amir cannot concieve a baby.
After failed attempt, Soraya and Amir find that Amir is infertile, scientifically, there seems to be no reason as to why. Soraya says,"God knows best, bachem. Maybe it wasn't meant to be." (186) -

As a result of the Soviet Union destroying Afghanistan, when troops left,"Power was anarchically divided among competing warlords and individual fiefdoms"(New York Times, 2). -

With regard to the taliban,"by the end of 1994 Mullah Omar had nearly 12,000 followers and was rolling up the warlords to the north and east"(New York Times, 2). -

Upon hearing of Hassan's death, Amir feels he must atone for the sexual violatin situation by finding Hassan's son sayng, "there is a way to be good again" (192). -

Amir rescues Sorab frfom orphanage.
After Amir gets a call that,"Rahim Khan is very sick." (191) he goes to Kabuh to rescue Hassan's son from an orphanage. -

The New York Times says that,"Mr. Karazi was elected to a five-year term as president, in 2004"(New York Times, 3) -
Obama Deploys 30,000 Troops to Afghanistan
After Barack Obama was elected,"In a Speech delivered Dec 1, 2009, at West Point, Mr. Obama announced his plan to deploy 30,000 additional troops"(New York Times, 4) -
Amir finds Hassan was Baba's blood child.
Once Amir is told the news of Hassan incact being his biological blood half brother, he remarks,"All of you, you bunch of lying goddamn bastards!" (222).
