  • 1979: the soviets enter

    soviet troops enter Afghanistan. the soviets started a coup to replace Hafizula Amin, the Afghanistan leader who lost all trust

  • 1981: Baba and Amir leave Afghanistan

    After Soviet troops invade Afghanistan Baba and Amir leave.

  • 1989: the soviets leave

    In 1989 the soviets left Afghanistan. however, what they left behind was many Islamic extremists, most notably terrorist group Al Qaeda, led by Osama bin Laden

  • 1994: the taliban seize control

    Mullah Omar had 12k followers by the end of 1994. they were funded by Pakistan, Afghanistan's neighboring country. with help from al qaeda, the gained full control by the end of 1996

  • 1998: Incident with Rahim Khan and Taliban.

    Rahim Khan tells Amir a story that took place during a soccer game and how he got the scar on his eye.

  • 2000: Hassan and Farzana are killed by the Taliban.

    A while after the Taliban invade Hassan and Farzana are killed.

  • Amir gets a call from Rahim Khan

    Rahim Khan wants asks for Amir to go to Pakistan.

    After 9/11 George bush, many rebel groups, and of course taliban joined forces to stop bin laden. taliban was droven out of Afghanistan and resided in tora bora. Bin laden was killed on may 2nd 2011

  • the 2010's: obama's plan

    Barack Obama waged war on afghanistan until 2014.
