  • AAUP

    John Dewey organized American Association of University Professors AAUP which was important because it help ensure academic freedom for faculty members. Before this took place, professors were required to teach and write only what the university found favorable. Anything taught outside these guidelines could result in a loss of jobs. The AAUP protected professors and helped prevent universities from dictating what materials professors could teach.
  • Reflective Thinking

    John Dewey introduced Reflective thinking. Which was people having the ability to process and make judgement about what is currently taking place. A good example would be learners are able to understand and control their learning by willing to participate. Dewey’s philosophy views were different because unlike other philosophers, Dewey was interested about events of everyday life.
  • Occupational Psychosis

    John Dewey introduced his concept of “Occupational Psychosis”. This term means one who is unable to keep their occupation separate from everyday interactions that are outside of the occupation. For example, a police officer that has the need to investigate their neighbors off duty. John Dewey used the personal occurrences in everyday life to better understand individuals.
  • Moscow Trials

    John Dewey was Commissioned in 1937. He was to investigate the Leon Trotsky case during the Moscow Trials. John Dewey published his findings and his findings helped clear all charges against Leon Trotsky. He found the Moscow Trials to be frame-ups
