    Navigation Acts
    Purpose: Directed trade between England and the colonies.
    Outcome: The colonists did not want to trade with Britian only and use their ships so they started smuggling.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Purpose: the colonists could not own land west of the appalachian mountains. outcome: The colonists were angry because they wanted more land to settle on.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    Purpose: lowered tax on imported molasses to convince colonists to pay the tax. also allowed officers to seige smuggled goods. Outcome: Colonists believed these British actions violated with their rights as English citizens.
  • Stamp act

    Stamp act
    Purpose: Tax on all printed material such as news papers, wills, and playing cards. All material had to have a stamp. Outcome: Parliament had interfered in colonial affairs by taxing them directly and they taxed the colonists without their consent.
  • Declaratory act

    Purpose: Parliament has the right to tax and make decisions for the British colonies Outcome: Only representatives had the right to tax them.
  • Townshend acts

    Townshend acts
    Purpose: Tax on imported goods such as glass, tea, and paper. Outcome: Boycotted British goods and only used homemade clothes and products.
  • Tea act

    Tea act
    Purpose: allowed British East India company to have sole control of trade for tea in america. Outcome: Colonists stopped ships from unloading and started the Boston Tea party when colonists threw tea overboard.
  • coercive Acts (intolerable)

    coercive Acts (intolerable)
    Purpose: Closed Bostor harbor until the ruined tes was paid for and banned New England town meetings. They forced colonists to quarter the British troops. Outcome: Other colonies sent clothing and food to Boston.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    Purpose: set up government in Quebec and gave land west of appalachians and North of Ohio river. Outcome: Colonial claims were ignored so colonists lost land.
