Ralph H. Baer, inventor of television video games and the Magnavox Odyssey console, released in 1972, created the first video game joysticks in 1967. They were able to control the horizontal and vertical position of a spot displayed on a screen.

The computer mouse as we know it today was invented and developed by Douglas Engelbart, with the assistance of Bill English, during the 1960's and was patented on November 17, 1970. While creating the mouse, Douglas was working at the Stanford Research Institute, a think tank sponsored by Stanford University.

Since the late 1990s, analog sticks (or thumbsticks, due to their being controlled by one's thumbs) have become standard on controllers for video game consoles, popularized by Nintendo's Nintendo 64 controller.

Mice in the 1980's and 90's started to become more sophisticated and better at performing task and even gaming.

The PSone was made as a modified Playstation. It came with the dualshock controller. The dualshock was the first controller that vibrated. It was one of the best controllers on the market at the time. You could use it with the PlayStation 1.

Now they have mice for gaming and for regular stuff like Photoshop etc. There are so many brands to choose from to ex. Razer, Logitech and Corsair those are just some of hundreds. Now there are the main two dominating console forces Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The two are always trying to one up each other and the controllers keep getting better and better. Of the two the Dual-shock 4(ps4 controller) is the best to me. I hope that the two keep coming up with better controllers.
