    Japan very isolated-->didn't allow foreign influence.
    Because of that,Western countries that occurred during the Industrial Revolution was not a reality for them. During the Meiji Period Japan was more open the foreigners, through this Japan industrialized itself rapidly. By World War I Japan was established as a world power.
  • Attempt of overthrowing Korean Government

    Pro- Japanese reformers attempted to over throw the Korean Government , nevertheless they were stopped by Chinese troops. They attempted this aggression becasue Korea being Japans neighbor and their coal and iron resources.

    This country wanted to economically compete with
    a)European and
    b)American
    powers.
    Japan needed more resources to fuel their economy. They were very limited to their resources due to where they are located.Need for resources was greater streseed during the great depression . Japan realised that they need to expand to new territories to aquire new resources.
  • Manchurian Incident

    A railway owned by Japan was destroyed by an explosion and China was blamed for it. Japan responded by invading Manchuria.
  • Anti-Cominter Pact

    Agreement was made between Germany and Japan that they would protect each other if attacked by the Soviet Union.
    Also,they agreed that neither of them would make any political treaties with the Soviet Union.

    The Second Sino-Japanese war

    Japan wanted to expand and due to that, there was conflict with border claims with China and it ended with war. Japan came out of the war defeated and focused on expansion somewhere else.

    Suprise military attack conducted by Japan against America at pearl harbor-->this attack made The United States join WW2.
