The United States cut off trade from Japap which angered the Japanese. The Japanese went to the Pacific ocean and bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This was a big loss for Japan because that is where the U.S. kept most of their military supplies and armies.

The Japanese refused to surrender so the U.S militray decided to drop the first atomic bomb. This was the first atomic bomb to ever be used in history. Russia had made the first atomice and so had many other countries but this was the first time ever being used.
