Jack was born on August 28th, 1969 in Santa Monica California.

Sophomore year he dropped out of UCLA to pursue a career in entertainment.

As young as 13 Jack was taking small roles in advertisements. He also took smaller roles in movies though after college. Some of these were Airborne, Demolition Man, The Fan, and many more.

Jack and one of his better friends Kyle Gass decided to create a band together to mock the rock scene at the time.

They started to grow drastically once they scored a Tv show on HBO. Sadly they only aired three episodes and then HBO tried to take complete control of the show and they stopped airing the rest of the episodes.

Jack scored his first main role as a wild employee in the movie High Fidelity. Many people say that this was his breakout role and got him as big as he is now.

They released their first album (which was also named Tenacious D) early 2001 and was met with varied reactions. They were backed by a full band consisting of Dave Ghrol and many other famous band members. This album ended up going platinum in the US in 2005.

One of the most well known movies starring Jack Black was School Of Rock. This movie about a jobless Jack Black taking over a school music program is a classic and even got him a golden globe nomination for best actor.

One of his more serious performances was in the 2005 rendition of King Kong. This showed many people that he can be more than just a comedy actor.

Tenacious D together made their own movie starring music created by them. It was a big success and even got many positive critic reviews. It also starred Dave Ghrol as the devil.

Jack did his first voice acting role in the 2008 animated movie Kung Fu Panda. He even stated that this was his favorite movie to be a part of.

He has been quite active as of recently between releasing the third studio album from Tenacious D. He also starred int the 2015 goosebumps movie playing the writer of the series, R.L. Stein.
