Stating that if Italy were to be attacked by France, Germany and Austria were to assist Italy and vise versa.     In 1915, Italy secretly signed the Treaty Of London, with this treaty England offered Italy large sections of territory. Great Britain and France wanted Italy on their side because it opened up the south of the Western Front.     During April of 1915, the British and French attempted to convince Italy to enter the War while Germany tried to get Italy to honor their pre-war alliance. Britain wanted to use the Italian front as a way to of forcing Germany to back off from the Western Front. Italy then agreed to the Treaty of London, and with the treaty the Allies agreed to finance the Italian war effort.

    During this battle the Italians had to fight the whole Austrian Army along with & divisions of German troops. The Italian Army lost over 300,000 men against the Central Powers. From the many deaths from not only the battle field but from the cold and starvation as well caused the Italians to retreat.
