  • Treaty of Versailles is signed

    Treaty of Versailles is signed
    This treaty happened to be one of the most important peace treaties of all time. It just so happened to bring WW1 to an end. It severely punished Germany and gave them 33 billion dollars in debt.
  • Weimar Constitution

    Weimar Constitution
    This was the constitution that governed Germany throughout the Weimar era. The Constitution declared Germany as a democratic parliamentary republic. Universal suffrage was made a thing with the minimum voting age of 20. Also, the first president, Freidrich Ebert, signed the constitution into law on August 11th, 1919. This so happened to cause the Weimar Republic.
  • League of Nations is established

    League of Nations is established
    Wilson's 14 points led to the creation of the League of Nations. It was created to maintain world peace and economic stability. The whole goal was to negotiate agreements between nations that were in conflict, as an alternative to going to war. It was made up of 42 member nations. But the United States was not one of them.
  • Benito Mussolini becomes dictator of Italy

    So this dude became president and so happened to also become dictator of Italy. He brought in the first fascist dictatorship. He made all fascists wear a uniform or black shirts. He dissparoved or Germany's Adolf Hitler, but over a course of time he became a fan of anti-semitism
  • French Occupation of the Ruhr

    French Occupation of the Ruhr
    So Germany was facing major economic problems for having to pay the Allies for what they did. In January 1923 France and Belgium decided to invade the Ruhr, which was the main industrial part of Germany. They wanted to do this to pay for Germany's debt they owed. But the workers went on strike and the government agreed. But then the French sent in their own workers and decided to arrest the leaders of the German strikers and German Police.

    Adolf Hitler was growing ever so popular and believed that he and the Nazi Party could overthrow the Weimar Republic and create a new government. So 603 SA had marched into the beer hall with a machine gun, then Hitler fired a shot in the air and yelled "The nation revolution has broken out!'

    Germany kept failing to pay off the war reperations, so the United States decided to create a plan where the US would loan money toGermany so they could rebuild their economy. They also did it so they could charge interest on the money and become even more wealthy than what they were already.
  • Locarno Treaties are signed

    Locarno Treaties are signed
    There were 7 agreements at Locarno, Switzerland on 5-16 of October but later signed on the 1st of December 1925. These were to help Germany rebuild and recover from the effects of World War 1 and that the Allies would have friendly relations with Germany.

    This was a national agreement between countries vowing that they would not use war to resolve disputes or conflicts ofwhatever nature or whatever origin they may be.

    The Great Depression was the worst economic downfall happening between 1929 and 1939, so a 10-year economic instability. It all began with the stock market crash in October 1929 that happened on Wall street and sent millions of people into panic mode. Also it lost millions of investors.

    Japan just so happened to be having the same economic crisis as everywhere else and they were super needy of resources. Japan wanted to invade Manchuria because it had a lot of coal and iron. Thye breached the League of Nations policy by not giving declarations of war, they just did it without telling anyone.

    He was appointed a chancellor because it was a desperate attempt to stabilize Germany's political climate. After he seized control of Germany, he began to rearm the military and established Germany into a fascist dictatorship.

    So basically Benito Mussolini led an invasion into Ethiopia to create an empire and capture all the valuable resources that lie in Ethiopia. This also went against the League of Nations but they did nothing about it.

    Germany reoccupied the Rhineland
    So Germany was forbidden from ever capturing the Rhineland in Germany because of the Treaty of Versailles. So they decided to break the treaty and send their troops into the Rhineland to occupy it. The League of Nations did not do their job and stop the Germans but more or less let them continue on their agression tour.

    German and Italy, both countries had fascist dictators. They happened to sign an agreement to support each other. Both of them had similar plans and intersts of expanding eachothers territories.

    This was an agreement between Germany and Japan to take down and eliminate communism. Later Italy happened to join the agreement to help decrease the spread of communism and go after the Soviet Union

    This was the concept of uniting Germanic-speaking peoples in Germany and Austria after WWI. So Germany was forbidden from having any alliance with Austria by the Treaty of Versailles. But Hitler beleived that Germany and Austria must be united becuase they are both German-speaking people.

    After Hitler captured Austria he next wanted to go after Czechoslovakia. Both Hitler and Mussolini entered into an agreement with Britain and France that allowed Hitler to capture Czechoslovakian land known as Sudetenland. This part of Czechoslovakia was a very German-speaking place there. But he was not allowed to capture more territory according to this agreement.

    So happened that after the capture of Sudetenland the Germans decided to capture all of Czechoslovakia. Which had violated the Munich agreement but Britain did not happen to respond to this.

    Hitler had a pan that he wanted to invade more of Europe and capture much more land. But in order to do this, he needed to make an agreement with the Soviet Union so they would not fight each other.

    After finally occupying Czechoslovakia, Hitler sought out to occupy Poland. He happened to make an agreement with Stalin of the Soviet Union to divide Poland between the two countries. Soon after German troops invaded Poland with violated the Munich agreement.

    Following the invasion of Poland, Britain had realized it failed to maintain peace and decided they had no choice but to stand up to Germany's aggression. On Sept. 3rd, 1939 Britain finally and officially declared war on Germany. Which at this very moment it had caused WWII
