  • Treaty Of Versailles

    The Treaty, signed on the 28th of June in 1919, was the start of the interwar period. Representatives gathered to create a treaty following the events of World War One, to reach an agreement for peace and their next move. Motives for the treaty included internationalism, and the hope for peace in the future. To prevent more World Wars.
  • League Of Nations

    The League of nations, founded through the Treaty of Versailles was an idea sparked by Woodrow Wilson, in order to keep peace within nations. The League employed techniques of internationalism to help achieve collective security and prevent another world war.
  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression was a huge economic depression starting in 1929 and spanning throughout the thirties. The depression devastated the economies of countries all over the world. Germany, Russia, the USA and many more suffered greatly in this time. The USA's stock market bombed which created a chain reaction.
  • Invasion of Manchuria

    In the Invasion of Manchuria was the Japanese rebelling against the League of Nations and invading Manchuria in order to extend their empire and their access to resources which was all motivated by their own nation interests. As a consequence they were kicked out of the League, which wasn't really much of a consequence for them.
  • Hitler Becomes Chancellor of Germany

    On January 30th 1933, Hitler overcame a very long struggle for power and was sworn into German leadership as Chancellor of Germany. A man who's worked for a long time against the German Democratic Republic was now it's leader and it began a long cycle for the pursuit of ultranationalism in Germany.
  • Invasion of Abyssinia

    Italy, lead by Mussolini wanted the oil and mining resources in Abyssinia and therefore invaded and took over throughout 1935-36. It was all for their own national interests and the League placed trade sanctions on them in return for their actions.
  • Remilitarization of The Rhineland

    After the demilitarization of the Rhineland due to world war one, Germany was ordered not to militarize it again. Of course on the 7th of March in 1936 on Hitlers command they ignored this request and remilitarized the Rhineland anyway for their own military gain.
  • Spanish Civil War

    on the 17th of July 1936 a Civil War broke out in Spain. The civil war lasted a little over two years and ended in a nationalist victory.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss was the term Germany used to refer to the annexation of Austria in Nazi-Germany in 1938. Nazi-Germany wanted to extend it's empire as far as possible and Austria was just one of the many countries taken by Germany on Hitlers quest for ultranationalism.
  • Munich Conference

    The Munich Conference was a conference where Britain and other countries used appeasement to try and save themselves from Hitlers empire. They offered Czechoslovakia in return for Hitler to stop expanding his empire there. They agreed but it didn't last.
  • Nazi-Soviet Pact

    The Nazi-Soviet pact was a pact made between Russia and Germany during the interwar period. It didn't last long and Germany's aggression ended up breaking the pact.
  • Invasion of Poland

    on the 1st of September in 1939, Germany invaded Poland, it was the immediate cause of World War Two.
  • Britain Declares War

    The start of world war two officially, declared by Britain on the 3rd of September 1939 following the invasion of Poland.
  • Rome - Berlin - Tokyo Axis

    Rome, Berlin and Tokyo joined forces on the 27th of September 1940 to become a stronger force against their enemies.
  • Pearl Harbour

    The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour in an attempt to wound the USA's navy and gain more control on the waters. This was what dragged the USA into World War Two.
  • Nuremberg Decrees

    Anti-Jewish statues established by Hitler during the Holocaust on his rise to ultranationalism and cultural genocide of jewish people.
