After the civil war the US could focus on industrializing. Since the US had a ton of resources, people, and the governmentsupporting business the US industrialized very fast.

Although Germany was divided, scattered resources alowed the entire country to industrialize. Germans also sent their children to England to see the British way. Railroads in Germany also helped link industrial cities.

Britain passed the Combination Act which stopped all unions because they believed they were a threat to the government but, workers made unions anyway. Finally the British government unwillingly allowed unions.
