    Johann Heinrich Shulz discovered that silver nitrate would change colo when exposed to light. This would be the start of what would later be called a obsucra camera.

    Charles Chevalier was the inventor of the "more portble camera". He came up with the idea of making the camera smaller but also making the images sharper. This was very helpful to painters and also a bonus for photographers.

    In the mid 1850's the bellowed camera was introduced. This new camera would allow more movement and flexibility that previous ones could not do. The lenses inside of this new camera would be the first to be up close and something called "bellowsadds" would help for distance.

    Thomas Bolas came up with the idea of using twin lenses. This was the earliest record of anyone using twin lenses. One lense is used for the viewfinder and the other is used for taking the actual picture. This is similar to SLR but the twin lenses are used for both lenses.

    The first company to manufacure the first built-in roll-film box camera (made by Kodak). This camera was so much smaller and easier to handle than the bellowed camera. This for photographers was like winning a million dollars, now they wouldnt have to wait 8 hours just to get one photo. The companys slogan was "you press the button, we do the rest".

    Johnnes Ostermeier made the first lightbulb for cameras, called Valcublitz. This that huge flash light you see when people take pictures back in the old days! Ostermeier made these! Not only did photographers use it but also coal miners use it as a light sorce in dark mines.

    He was the first to created the 35-mm Lecia camera. This camera alllowed film to be made bigger. Like instead of the pictures being little tiny they would now come in 24-36 mm.
  • Edwin H. Land

    He was the first one to make a Polariod camera. A Polariod would allow someone to take a photo and it be printed in less than a minute, You use to take it to like a pharmacy or a grocery store and they would a few days to print, but with the polariod would allow to see your picutre within a few seconds.
  • Kodak

    Kodak introduces the Kodak Instamatic, a camera that would be fully automatic. All the user had to do was use catradigies, A cartradge would ba able to hold many photos at one time. So you could get like 200 photos printed up to one time, that is of course after you take it to the pharmacy to get printed!
  • Mavica

    Sony introduces the Mavica and this is the first commerically avaliable to the public. But what was so important about this camera was that it didn't use cartradiges or film. It uses, what is called a memory card. Which allows people to plug their pictures into their computer.

    They realsed Maxxum 700 AF SLR,, So in regular terms it means the first camera to autofocus. So when you press the button like right before you take the picture and it does that little focus thing, well this was the first one of those. It had a big variety lenses in this camera.

    Fugi intorduces Quicksnap.This was the first disposable camera. This little camera could hold about 20 pictures on 35 mm pictures. But it went back to the cartradige so people would have to take all their pictures back to the pharmacy.

    Canon Eos this camera is the the first all automatic. It was automatic lenses and automatic features. Canon would soon be showed up by Kodak and NIkon.
  • Kodak

    Kodak comes out with the first digital camera. It was an updated verison of the Nikon F-3 with a Kodak 1.3 migapixel image sensor. Usually journalists used this kind of camera.
  • Apple

    Apple finally came out with the "Apple QuickTake 100" it was the first to be basically the first to have video.It was also a digital. This camera could be connected by using a computer serial cable.
