    Proclamation Line of 1763 was when the British requested the colonist not to settle the land west of a certain imaginary line at the Appalachain Mountains.
    Rate: 3; This rule was not enforced strongly at all so it had little to no affect on the colonist and wasn't one of the causes of their resentment towards Britain.

    The French and Native American fought as allies against Britain and the colonists. The French won, and Britain was forced to pay for the entirety of the war; therefore, putting major tax raises into affect but on the colonists only. Rate: 7; This tax increase was the main cause of the colonists' anarchy against Britain.

    The Stamp Act was an action of Great Britain that greatly increased taxation of the colonial society. This particular instances didn't create more than a mere stir for the colonist and caused only some dissatisfaction.

    British soliders wrongedly murder five colonists. This action was blown out of proportion and publicized as a "massacre" when only a few men were killed.
    Rate: 7; The colonists took were deeply affected by the death of their brethren and it was propaganda of the Sons of Liberty that made this event into a huge stepping stone into the revolution.

    The Tea Act: When Britain made the pitfall decision to put severely high taxes on arguably the colonists' favorite beverage.
    Rate: 9 {This act lead to the Boston Tea Party, which is one of the most eminent starts of the American Revolution. This was also one of the first times known where the colonists had risen up against the nation where the loyalties were intended to lie.}

    The Sons of Liberty, dressed as savage natives, dumped thousands of pounds of British tea into the Boston Harbor to exemplify their distaste in the Great Britain hold over the American colonists.
    Rate: 9; this is the most eminent occurance of the entire pre and post war period and nearly everyone has heard about the Boston Tea Party. The rash and courageous acts of these men were one of the most important actions ever taken by colonists against the British.

    The Intolerable Acts where punishments decreed by Great Britain to wrong the colonists for their neglence.
    Rate: 5{These actions again upset the colonist and added to their begining rage}
  • First Continental Congress

    Scholar colonists joined together to request in a letter to the king to repeal the severe laws and punishments he had placed upon those residing in New England.
    Rate:4; Their letter was ignored by the king and didn't make much of a dent in their cause.
  • Second Continental Congress

    This was the commitee that banded together to create an independent America and write the Declaration of Independence; this was after the First Continental Congress after the British king denied to repeal the harsh acts he had put upon the colonists after the Boston Tea Party.
    Rate: 6; This was the first written evidence of the colonists desiring indepence from their home nation.

    "The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War."(Wikipedia) It was the colonist's minutemen versuses armed British soliders, who were intending to locate and destroy supposed weaponry the colonists were thought to have, weapons that were in fact, not even there.
    Rate: 6; First armed conflict between thirteen colonies and British soliders.

    The Declaration Of Indeoendence was the first proclaimation by the "citzens" of a new nation. Jefferson was the prominent writer of this great document and him along with myriad other revolutionaries such as Edison & Hancock were part of a commitee to ratify and form the rights of man in their new nation they wished to create.
    Rate: 7 {The Declaration definitely set foot for a new begining & a new idea of complete autonomy among colonists however it wasn't as strong as the physical attacks}

    Although there are many different "Enlightenments" that have occured in many diverse countries, the American Enlightenment of sorts took place in the 18th century and took place at the starting of the birth of our nation.
    Rate: 4 {This Enlightment was involved in the making of the Declaration Of Independence, and I stick to my notion that although these had a place in the Revolution they weren't extremely strong causes.}
