    British Conrol
    Employes from the Dutch east india made a supply base on the shore of Table Bay. Over the next 150 years Ducth settlers settled on land which would soon create Cape Colony. As things expaned Boers created huge farming plantations. Which ment it was nessasery to import labor. Simply so that Cape Colony could import slaves while the majority of Africa exported them.

    Founding the Zulu Empire
    The Zulu empire was founding in 1816 by Shaka Zulu. The Zulu was a group who occupied the eastern slopes and costal plain of South Africa. The Zulu became the most powerful state in Southern Africa in the 1820's. On January 1'st the British invaded Zululand with about 7000 troups. In a result the British lost more then 1600 solders. By the second attack the british where able to conquer the Zulu capitol at Ulindi by July 1879.

    The discovery of diamonds in 1867 triggered something called a diamond rush. That brought people from all over the world that turned Kimberly into a town or 50,000 within just a matter of 5 years. At the beginning blacks and whites worked indeptendatly. As the mines got deeper it became harder to work. Cecil Rhodes and some other business men managed to consolidate the small mines into big mines. Which ment they gained most control over mines. They needed workers for these mines, Africans where

    most gold mines. Africans where regulated to perform manual labor. During this Whites got the skilled jobs or positons as labor foremen. To go along with that black workers where forbidden by law to live where ever they want.

    The Boers struck first. They attacked Cape Colony and Natal in 3 directions which can also be signs of something called a Guerilla attack. The Boers won that battle in December 1899. The next year Brittish reinforcements began to arrive in large numbers. By the end of that year they had captured 4000 Boers. The Boers continued to fight.

    National Apartheid was invented as a means to cement there control over the economic and social system. Apartheid was to maintain white domination while extending racial seperation. Some apartheid laws included prohibitaion of marriage between blacks and whites.

    Mandela sentenced to life imprisonment
    In 1952 Nelson became one of the ANC's deputy presidents. During the late 1950's began to move in a more racial direction. In 1956, Nelson went on trial for treson. The court case lasted 5 years, which led with Nelson being acquitted. In March 1960 69 demonstraers where killed by police. Mandela aswell as others where triied with plotting to overthrow the government with violence. The following year he was sentenced to life.

    Following Mandelas release lays the relaxation of aparheid laws. Also including lifting the ban on leading black rights. Appering at the Victor-Verster prison with his wife Winnie making the following quote while punching the air. " Our march to freedom is irreversible."

    In South African history there has been more then 3 centries of white rule. Nelson Mandela was the first black president. He quotes "Never, never again will this beautiful land experiance the oppression of one by another." He pledged to South Africa to continue his work for reconciliation. More then 100,000 South African men, woman, and children of all races sang and dacned with joy.
