The food or allergen is eaten/consumed. -

When the allergen is eaten, a IgE antibody is made and it attaches itself to tissue cells , so if the allergen is eaten again, the body will be ready. -
Step 3
The allergen is eaten/consumed, and enters the body again. -
Step 4
When the allergen enters the body, it binds to the IgE antibodies and sends signals to the body to release large amounts of histamine. -
Step 5
The histamine released causes an allergic reaction. -
Step 6
Allergic reactions cause many different symptoms such as irritation and swelling in certain parts of the body. -
Step 7
The Immune System also is possibly affected with the swelling of a mouth, itching of lips, difficulty breathing, stomach cramps, vomiting, hives, or rashes. The most serious reaction to an immune response to food can result in anaphylaxis.
