    Australopithicus Afarensis
    This hominid appeared 3 to 4 million years ago. It was found in The Afar Triangle, Africa. They were 3 feet tall and a mix of an ape and human. They had long arms, hands and arms like us, large head and forehead, and their jaw stuck out. Their tools were unknown and their capabilities were walking on two feet and useing their hands to gather food, carry young ones, and for defense.

  • Homo Habilis

    Homo Habilis
    This hominid lived 1.5-2 million years ago and was found in Africa. They had a larger brain and looked more human and were taller than Lucy. They used rocks for chopping, sharp stones for cutting, and bones for digging. They walked on two feet and used tools to hunt and get food. They probably made traps too.
  • Homo Erectus

    Homo Erectus
    This hominid lived 1.8 million years ago and were found in Asia. They stood up straight, were taller and thinner, had strong bones, their foreheads were round and smooth, they had a large brow ridge, thick skull, and a stuckout jaw. They used stone hand axes and were the first to control fire. They were the first to leave Africa, good walkers and runners and complex tool makers. They cooked and ate more meat, built shelters, were the first to be nomads, and survived the longest.
  • Homo Sapiens Neaderthalensis

    Homo Sapiens Neaderthalensis
    This hominid lived 230,000 to 30,000 years ago and was found in Neander Valley, Germany, in Europe near the east, and in parts of Asia. They had thick bones, a ridge above their eyes, shorter and stalkier than modern humans, but much stronger, and and very large brains. This hominid made more than 60 types of weapons, such as, knives, scrapers, and spear points. They lived and traveled in groups and had organized hunting. They were also the first to bury their dead and have doctors for healing.

    Homo Sapiens Sapiens
    This hominid lived 35,000 to12,000 and they origanated in Africa. They migrated around the globe, had high rounded skulls, large brains, small teeth, and slender bones. They made stone blades, tools for engraving and sculpting, needles for sewing, and shelters of Earth and stone. They also had the best tools, best shelter, and th best clothing.
