Gramophone Record first Invented
It was at this year that the gramophone record was invented, which played sound using lateral grooves. Nowadays, these sorts of records are mainly used by DJs and the like. -
Vinyl Record Invented
This was the year that people introduced vinyl records, instead of shellack. This allowed faster songs to be played on a record player. These vinyl discs had a negative impact on the environment, as many people still have theirs and don't know what to do with them. -
RCA Tape Carttridge
This was the first of the cassete taps to be produced, and this would have been not very environmentally friendly either, being made out of plastic and magnetic tape. -
Laserdisc
This was one of the first discs for music to be produced. It was the first Optical Disc medium to be somercially sold. These are also not friendly towards the environment, as people would accidentally break them and throw them away. -
DVD
The DVD when introduced, was the best format for storing video as well as music, allowing a much larger amount of space, and also being smaller and easier to store. Many people still use a DVD today. -
iTunes released (downloadable music)
This was the time that iTunes was offically released, marking the start of a main method of downloadable music. There is a much less environmental impact now as music is even easier to come by. -
YouTube
This was the release of a main method of music streaming, and is hugely popular still to this day. YouTube makes it easy to find virtually any music that you could want and is easy, free, and unlimited. This has pretty no environmental impact at all, and streaming music is the best method for music consumption.
