there is 2 reasons why America declared war. 1: Happened in 1915 when a Germany U-boat sunk the British ocean liner RMS Lusitania, Americans were furious because there was over 200 Americans on the ship. the 2nd: Germany had sent Mexico a telegram saying that if the Mexican's had helped the Germans fight against the Americans in the war the Germans would give them parts of the land in America. Americans had heard this and had gotten furious, so they had declared war on Germany.
