    Adolf Hitler Appointed Chancellor

    The Nazi Party(Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) assumed that they had power when Hitler was appointed Chancellor. President Paul von Hindenburg was the one to appoint Hitler as Chancellor. The Enabling Act allowed the Reich government to issue without the consent of Germany's Parliament, therefore giving Hitler more power of the people and the Jews.

    3 months after The Nazi's came to power, they started to target Jewish-owned businesses and decided to start and economic boycott in Germany. The Nazi's claimed that Germans and Jews were spreading false facts about them to ruin Germany's reputation. They put out signs that stated "Don't Buy From Jews" and "Jews Are Our Misfortune."

    On July 14, the German government passed the "Law for the prevention of offspring with hereditary diseases." This means the forcing of someone to be sterilized with a physical or mental disease. The law opened the gates for involuntary sterilization for people who have disabilities.

    In the Summer of 1936, The National Olympics came to Berlin. The Olympic games were a great propaganda success for the Nazi's. They removed anti-Jewish posters and restrained anti-Jewish activates. They wanted people to think they were just these great people in this great nation.

    Members of the SA and Hitler Youth participated in riots that destroyed hundreds of Jewish buildings. Almost 100 Jewish residents lost their lives during these riots. In the following week, Germany passed many laws to take away Jewish rights.
