Sosi and Emma Holocaust Timeline

  • Schutzstaffel Organized

    This was a military group set up by Hitler. They were part of the Nazi party and were very brutal. They served as HItler's bodyguards at first but then went on to work at concentration camps. This affected the Jewish population because they were so brutal.

    Hitler now has control over Germany. This will affect the german citizens because they have a new leader.
  • Hitler Claims Emergency Powers

    Hitler now has complete control over Germany. He is basically a dictator now. This will affect the Jews because now he can oppress them.
  • Boycott of Jewish Businesses

    On this date most Germans boycott jewish businesses. This marked the beginning of prosecution of the Jews. This affected the jews because they lost business.
  • Law for the Prevention of Hereditary Diseases

    This law required sterilization of any person with a diseases that could be considered hereditary to try and eliminate genetic deformities in germany. This affected people with diseases because they were forced to become sterilized even if they didn't want to.
  • Laws Against Dangerous Habitual Criminals

    This law gives the court's power to imprison anyone they deem dangerous to society even if they might not be. This affects jews because it gives the court's power to be prejudice against them.
  • Himmler Orders Destruction of Auschwitz

    As forces got closer to Auschwitz Himmler ordered the gas chambers to be demolished. This affected the Jews because the Jews that were there could not be gassed anymore.

    These were laws enacted in Germany in 1935. These were anti-semitic laws that took away many Jewish rights and was another step to Hitler's plan of getting rid of the Jews. This affected the Jewish population in Germany because it severely limited their rights.

    After the Treaty of Versailles the Rhineland was a demilitarized area. Hitler wanted vengeance on the treaty of versailles so he canceled the demilitarization and went into the Rhineland. This affected other countries because it was Hitlers first time openly going against the Treaty of Versailles.

    This is when all German jews were required to wear a badge with a yellow star on it so they could be identified as Jewish. This affected Jews in Germany because the badges were made to make Jews feel isolated and dehumanize them.

    Einsatzgruppen were a group of high Nazi officials that massacred many Jews. They affected the Jew because they killed them.

    This was a ship full of Jewish refugees that were looking for a country to go to get away from Germany. They wanted to go to cuba then to they U.S. but were turned away and had to go back to europe were most were killed by Nazi’s. This affected the Jews on the boat because they had to go back to germany were they were killed.

    Germany invades Poland, and by doing this he has started world war two. This affected the world because the second war had started.

    This was an idea presented by Franz Rademacher to move the entire Jewish population to the island of Madagascar. This would affect the Jewish population by taking them away from their homes.
  • Dr Josef Mengele arrives at Auschwitz

    Dr. Mengele was a Nazi ¨doctor¨. He performed terrible experiments on people in Auschwitz. This affected the subjects to his experiments because they were used without any say to it.
  • Lodz Ghetto Opens

    Lodz is a town in Poland and during World War II had one of the largest Jewish populations. WHen germany took over poland they would round up Jews ever day and force them to live in the Ghetto. This affected the Jewish people who lived in this town since they were subjected to beatings and cruel conditions.

    Auschwitz was a concentration camp that killed over a million Jews. This affected the Jews because this is were a lot of them died during the holocaust.
  • The Commissar Order

    This was an order From Germany during their war with Russia. This order stated that any Russian commissar captured during battle should be shot immediately. This affected Russian commissars because they were ordered to be killed.
  • Babi Yar

    Babi yar was a massacre that killed 30,000 Jews in the Ukraine. This mostly affected the Jews because they died at this event.
  • Wannsee Conference

    This is when the chief of the Reich Security Main Office in Germany presented the plans for the final solutions. This affected the Jews because the final solutions was the systematic killing of the Jewish populations.
  • Creation of the Zigeunerlager

    This was a concentration camp for gypsies. This affected the gypsies because this is where a lot of them were killed.
  • Himmler Orders Liquidation of ghettos

    This means that all Jews who are still in the ghettos have to go to concentration camps, This affected the Jews because barely anyone lived thru the concentration camps.
  • Last Gassing at Auschwitz

    This was the last group of prisoners that were gassed at Auschwitz before the gas chambers were shut down. This affected the prisoners that were killed and the remaining prisoners because they would no longer be killed by the gas chambers at that camp.

    In 1945 the Soviet army was getting closer to auschwitz. Because of this German SS officers took most of the prisoners on a death march. When the soviet army got to Auschwitz they saved more than 7000 prisoners that were left that were sick or dying. This affected many jewish people since Auschwitz was one of the largest concentration camps.

    Hitler the ruler of Germany commits suicide. He ruled over Germany from 1933 to 1945. This will affect the German citizen because they will have to find a new ruler.

    At this event 21 war criminals went on trial for crimes against humanity. This affects the war criminals because they are now going to jail.
  • Adolf Eichmann captured

    Adolf was hiding in Argentina under a false name when a German prosecutor recognized him and told the government. Adolf affected many Jews by sending them to concentration camps.
  • Dr Josef Mengele Dies

    Dr.Mengele finally dies even though he was never tried for the awful crime that he committed. He affected many Jews life by performing unfathomably experiments on them.
