  • The Anschluss

    The Anschluss
    Hitler had a strategy and his first one was to reunite all German speaking people to Austria. He thought he should gather everyone under one empire. Hitler created the "Third Reich". Hitler threatened to invade Austria if his Nazi party members were not given an important posistion.
  • The Munich Conference

    The Munich Conference
    Czechoslovakia was part of Hitler's next goal, but they resisted. Czechoslovakia was backed by the Soviet Union and France. The British prime minister at the time offered appeasment to Hitler and promised him Sudetenland if he promised not to take the rest of Czechoslovakia. Soon after this Hitler invaded and broke up Czechoslovakia.
  • The Nazi-Soviet Pact

    The Nazi-Soviet Pact
    Hitler negotiated with the Soviet Union to keep the peace between them. They signed a pact called the Nazi-Soviet Pact which kept the Soviet Union out of the war if Germany went to war with France or Britain in exchange for Polish Land.
  • Danzig and the Polish Corridor

    Danzig and the Polish Corridor
    Hitler wanted to take Danzig after taking Sudetenland. He wanted to build a highway and railroad across Poland to connect Germany, Danzig, and East Prussia. France and Britain backed Poland which help them to refuse Hitler demands.
  • The War Begins

    Germany invaded Poland. Two days later France and Britain declare war on Germany. Germany used a tactic called blitzrieg to take Poland.
