    Hitler's Life

  • Art School sadness

Turning Point - In 1906, Adolf was permitted to visit Vienna, but he was unable to gain admission to a prestigious art school.
Cause and Effect - The cause of the rejection was because the school thought that Hitler was just average in his drawing caapabilities and in effect he was able to use his time for other things than school, he used it to became the monster he became.
  • Hearty yet Heartless

His mother dies on January 7, 1907. Hitler was greatly affected by his mother and it is said that he had a photo of her in his pocket when he died.
Historical Prespective - I would feel really broken and torn inside if my mother were to die of cancer so it is not too hard to understand what he went through when he lost someone so close and dear to him, yet on the other hand he was ruthless for the Holocaust and killing millions of people didn't faze him so it is weird in that sense.
  • German Workers Party Meeting

Turning point - the day Hitler walked into that German Workers Party meeting in Munich. He couldn't keep his mouth shut, which started the ball rolling on much of 20th century history, almost all of it was bad.
Ethical Dimension - this was an ethically wrong event because Hitler used his speech to get what he wanted which was power but even though speeches are used for getting what you want, the people should have realized later on that it was wrong to be on his side and left.
  • The Letter

Hitler wrote a letter to Herr Adolf Gemlich, where he appears anxious to establish his credentials as a knowledgeable anti-Semite.
Historical Significance - The letter was Hitler's first explicitly political and anti-Semitic writing, may have been seen as the launch of his political career.
  • First 15 Minutes of Fame

In the 1920s, with the German economy suffering, Hitler saw an opportunity to steal power and led his army to a beer hall in Bavaria where local government leaders were holding a meeting, there the Nazis captured the politicians.
Historical Significance - This event was significant because it was at this time where Adolf Hitler recieved national publicity and people saw what he was doing.
  • Start of The Holocaust

Turning Point - He approved the formation of killing squads that followed his army to murder Jews and anyone not of German decent.
Continuity and Change and also Historical Significance - This event was very significant because it is what led to millions and millions of people being killed. It was also even ethically wrong because he was only killing people who were of a certain ethnic race. But now this does not happen because of rights and freedoms so that has changed for us since the past.
  • Causing WW2

Turning Point - Hitler's army invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, sparking France and England to declare war on Germany.
Historical Significance - This event is historically significant because this sparked the start of something larger and more brutal than World War 1, World War 2.
  • Attemped Assassination

German commander Claus von Stauffenberg attempts to assassinate Hitler. The plan called for Stauffenberg, Ludwig Beck, Erwin von Witzleben and Friedrich Fromm to take control of the Germany army after Hitler's death and make peace with the Allies. But Stauffenberg fails to murder Hitler and their operation is discovered. The four men are all killed.
Historical Significance - This was a significant event because it was a possible way to have ended Hitler's reign earlier than he expected.
  • Death

As the war appeared to be lost the lieutenants he hand-picked, defied his orders, he killed himself on April 30, 1945.
Continuity and Change - If he didn't kill himself but instead had the lieutenants killed then his reign would have been for a longer period of time but he killed himself so that changed the course of history for the better to where it is now.
