Hindenburg decided he was not going to run again after his 7 year term. Then again, he decided that he would in fact run again. This time, against Hitler in 1932 -
Great Deprerssion
Germany fell into an economic depression. Hitler wanted to overthrow the government again (like when he tried 1923 at the Beer Hall) but this time legally. His plan was to get elected and at the same time, have the Nazi Party grow. -
Hitler Becomes Chancellor via Elections
Paul von Hindenburg was really old. Hitler wanted to become part of the political party at some point and Hindenburg gave him that way. He came in second and became chancellor. Second place became chancellor under Hitler's terms. -
Reichstag Fire
The German Parliament gets burnt down. They blame the fire on the group of Communists. All political parties were falling really fast. They had all split into many groups. All were breaking down and disappearing. -
Hitler is Elected President of Germany
Hitler convinced Hindenburg that when the president dies, the chancellor becomes president. Hindenburg dies and before he dies, he enforces that law. Resulting, that Hitler has officially become president.
