Political Beginnings
Hitler joins the German Workers' Party on September 12, 1919. In 1921 he is named "Der Fuehrer" of the party and changes it's name to the National Socialist German Workers' Party. -
Beer Hall Putsch
Hitler tries to take over the government by capturing several important political leaders in Munich but fails and is arrested for treason. -
Shadow State
Hitler establishes a Nazi secret state so that the real Nazi state will already be established when he had the oppurtunity to officially rise to power in the government -
Great Depression
Hitler uses the negative effects of the Great Depression to his advantage by claiming that he has the ability to save Germany. -
Chancellor Hitler
Hitler recieves 6.5 million votes in the election of 1930 and the Nazi Party wins 107 seats in the Reichstag. -
Nationalsits side with Nazis
Hitler gains the support of Nationalists by telling the rich and the aristocrats that they were guaranteed to prosper under the Nazi state -
Communists
Hitler had his men set the Reichstag building on fire and then blamed the Communists for it, destroying much of their party's support. -
Enabling Act
The primarily Nazi Reichstag passed a law which made Chancellor Hitler the only person allowed to make laws. -
Nazis Only
Hitler outlaws all political parties in Germany besides the Nazi party. -
Leader
German President Paul von Hindenburg dies and the remains of Germany's democratic government were dismantled when Hitler combined the offices of President and Chancellor. -
Dictatorship
Hitler holds a plebicite where he receiced 38 million out of a total 43 million German votes, officially making him the legal dictator of Germany.
