Assasination of Franz Ferdinand along with his wife were assasinated by Gavrilo Princip, which started WW1. This is important as it was an act in which triggered WWI. And even till today wa is still going on. If there was no assasination would war even exist? -

Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia, beginning World War I. This is important because this was the first war, which began ww1 and war is still going on today. -
Vimy Ridge.
Vimy Ridge was the most succesfull canadian battle of WW1. Canadians studied the ridge and they builded a model to practise on. Every soldier was issued a map. This is important in history because Canada was very succesfull in the battle and captured the ridge. And Canada was very dominant during the process of capturing ridge. -
Insulin was invented.
Insulin was inveted by Frederick Banting to lower blood pressure for people with diabetes.
fact: the first test occured on a 14 year old dog. The results were good. This is important in history as without insulin i dont know what diabetic humans would be doing to this day. This invention changed the world and allowed diabetic humans and animals to live, -
Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King was elected
William Lyon Mackenzie King was elected as the tenth Prime Minister of Canada. He was the dominant Canadian Political Leader from the 1920s to the 1940s. He was the longest serving Prime Minister in history. (Lib) This is important in history because this was a very dominant prime minister, and was the longest severing prime minister in history. -
Royal Canadian Air Force was formed.
The Royal Canadian Air Force was formed, and became a permanent component in Canada's defence force. and still to this day the RCAF is still around. This is important in history because this is when the RCAF was formed and with out the RCAF we would not have as much defence as we do today as it plays a very important role in war. The RCAF is still around today. -
The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a worldwide disaster leaving the rich and the poor with no jobs, money, food, and shelter. It affected Canda and Germany the most, and later almost everyone was homeless. WWII stopped the depresion as it created new jobs for people. This is important in history because it was a big disaster, and many people had no jobs, money, food, shelter, and many were starved to death. And it was a big part of the world which a big problem. And it lasted till WWII. -
Second World War (WWII)
WWII was a global war and lasted from 1939-1945. It was fought in Europe, in Russia, North Africa and in Asia. This war involved more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. It was fought between the Allies and the Axis powers. This war killed 60 million people. 40 million were civilians. This is important as it was WWII and many were killed and many events occured during WWII. And during WWII many jews were sent to concentration camps and even killed. It was an awful war. -
Battle of Dieppe.
Dieppe raid occured. it took place on northern coast of france. It involved 5,000 Canadians, 1,000 British troops, and 50 United States Army Rangers. it involved Canada, Britain, USA, and Germany. This is important in history as it shows the falures and succes of other countires and thir problems along the way. -
Canada joins NATO.
Canada joins NATO ( North Atlantic Treaty Organization). NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance which was signed on 4 April 1949. it was an collective defence system where members agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party. This is important as Canda relies on USA to protect us and without NATO canada wouldnt have the defence as they do know. -

CBC begins to start Television Brodcasting in Canada. This allowed people to be able to listen/watch brodcast produced by CBC which allowed entertainment to people. This is important because without CBC people back then would not have an entertainment source. They could watch/listen to CBC. Without CBC there could have possibly not have been tv bakc then, which means no entertainment source so it is very important. -
9/11
9/11 was a terrorist attck on the twin towers. This terrorist attack kll 2,996, and put 10 billion into poverty and damage. two planes crashed into the twin towers, and the third into the pentagon. This is important in history because this attack kill 2,996 people, and cause alot of damage. This attack changed the world as it made allowed more security in airports and everywhere. since this attack the world has expanded their security laws. and this is a big part of history. -
Shooting on Parliament Hill, Ottawa
A series of shootings occured on Parliament Hill in Ottawa when a man was trying kill people. One man was killed. This is important as Canada has never really expirienced a terrorist attack. And many people will remember this tragic event.
