    He was the leading member of the American Civil Liberties Union. He was best known for defending teenage thrill killers Leopold and Loeb in their trial for murdering 14-year-old Robert "Bobby" Franks.

    The Homestead was an act that said that anyone who didn't go against the government, including freed slaves and women, were allowed to file for land.

    She was the first African American journalist. She was borna slave and led the anti-lynching crusade. She saw the injustice that was being done and published it in papers to get attentions for it and she striced for African American rights.

    Was a labor protest which turned into a riot when someone threw a bomb at the police. This viewed as a setback for the labor movement, which was fighting for an eight hour work day.

    An act made to help Native Americans be seen as individuals and not just tribes. It split reservations into seperate lands for Native Americans.

    An Act that was passed by the government that food was to be inspected and no poisionous food or medicines were allowed to be put in store or even manufactured.

    American industrialist that became a major philanthropist. He had a major steel company in the early 1870's and became the world's richest man.
