The Jim Crow laws were made mainly to separate black and white people in the united states. Many states in the north did not like the jim crow laws there for they never had black codes but in the south it was a very popular thing.

A hispanic got put in jail for on day because he refused to pay his toll tax for not being ok with slavary. The man was named Thoreau he was very rebellious when it came to slavary.

Once the slaves were free they were taken advantage of by people because many slaves wanted to have there own lands so when they were given the land and everything it was hard because the had so much that they had to do to just get by.
