In reality the Big Bang happened 13.8 billion years ago, but to make it easier to comprehend, we'll say it happened on January 1. This is the birth of the universe, the moment all matter in the Universe went from being held in a small, extremely dense lump, to rapidly expanding into the universe. -
Formation of the Earth
The Earth formed 4.54 billion years ago, or September 14 in our single year format. The young Earth was very different from what it is today, and was actually quite hostile to life. Thus, it took some more time to life to develop on our planet. -
First Life on Earth
3.5 billion years ago the first life showed up on Earth. Exactly how life arsose is still unkown, but there are some interesting and promising theories. The first life was simple single cell prokaryotes. -
Dinosaurs!
The dinosaus appeard 231 million years ago. They became the dominant vertebrates on Earth for 135 million years. Today birds are the closest living descendants of the dinosaurs. -
Humans - Finally!
Humans don't appear until the last day of the year- crazy, right? What's even crazier is that modern Humans don't actually appear until 11:54 pm! All of human history can be summed up in 4 minutes! The pyramids were built 10 seconds before midnight, and Columus's voyage to American in 1492 was only 1 second before midnight! So much histroy happened before humans were around! How did life start out as simple single cells and become intelligent beings? The answer is evolution, our next unit.
