    The Scopitone is a type of juke box and were a forerunner of music videos. The Scopitone was invented in France and shorts films were produced by many French artists such as Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Durtronc. This then proliferated to other countries creating more similar juke boxes such as the Cinebox in Italy and Color-Sonic in USA.

    The creation of YouTube encouraged the public to go on the website and upload videos of them singing, dancing and even comedy acts. This helped the young producers to get their videos out to a wider audience group and make it easy to promote their product.

    The popularity of the internet meant that the music industry were able to access their audience via different platforms and reach a bigger audience.
