    First Attempt to Climb Mt. Everest
    The first group of people (which included George Mallory and was lead by Edward Lisle Strutt) attempted to climb Mt. Everest. They climbed up to 26,800 ft before turning back. They were the first humans to climb above 26,000 ft on a mountain.

    George Finch and Geoffry Bruce, two members of the party, attempted to climb using oxygen. They were the first to use oxygen to assist with the climb.
