    They moved the capital to Hanseong ( now Seoul)
    Under Yi rulers they made Confucianism the official religion
    Yang-ban=scholars(only sons of nobles/Yangban could take the civil service test that is taken to become a Yang-ban)

    Korean alphabet invented by King Sejong
    King Sejong (r.1418-1450), the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty invented what was origionally called, Hunmin jeongeum, or "The correct sounds for the instruction of the people." He made one so that the common people could be able to write and read.

    March 1st (Samil Independence) movement
    The movement for Korean Nation agaisnt Japanese rule originally started with 33 Korean cultural and religious leaders who organized a big demonstation and drew up the Korean "Proclamation of Independence" and spread throughout the country. The Japanese stopped the movement aftre 12 monthes of protests, but the Samil movement srengthen the unity of Korean people, made what was happening known in the world, and started the Korean Proviional Government in SHanghai. It is now a national holiday.
