De Soto goes to Georgia in search of gold. They come in contact with navite Americans. They capture, and kill many of them. The Europeans brought many new diseases, that the Natives were not used to, they had no immunity to it. These Diseases killed manny (thousands) of Navite Americans. -
Charter Issued by King George ll
A charter is a legal document granting special rights, and privleges. King George ll granted rights to James Oglethorpe, and the trustees all land in between the Savannah, and the Alabama rivers, extending west towarsds the Pacific Ocean. It said,trustees could not ownland, or hold a political office, or be payed money for their work. Also Catholics, blacks, or liquor dealers. They also could only aothority for a limited amount of time, thye also could not pass laws without the kings permission. -

American Revolution
There were 4 causes. The first was the french and indian war,which issued a lot of war debt on the people. The second was the Proclaimation of of 1763, which also issued alot of war debt, from the troops who were sent to protect the settlers in the west. The third was the Intolerable acts, which was partly caused by the Boston Tea Party. This included that troops would be tryed in England.Also this included the quartering act. The forth was Declearation of Indedependence . -
Elijah Clarke and the Battle of Kettle Creek
Clarke led the troops to Kettle Creek, and defeated almost 800 British soliders. This was a surprize victory. Even after Georgia and South Carolina had fallen, Clarke led men on a number of guerrilla raids. After the war Clarke was rewarded with many acres of land. He also served in the Georgia legislature, and became the general in a state militia. -
Articles of Confederation ratified by all 13 States
The articles of confederation was not a good thing for the states. The Articles in cluded that all states have one vote, no matter the size.. Also we did not have the Exective, Judial, And Legislative Branch. Also each state had its own form of currency. Ect. The 13 state agreed to overrride this, and instead, they made the United StAtes Constitution, and that is what we have today. -
University of Georgia Established
This qwas the first state supported university in the US. Abraham Baldwin was the first president of the college. The first classes were open in 1801. Athen was called the "center of learning." Also , only white men could attend. -

This took place to address the problems that the United states had. They were operating under the Articcles of Confederation, following their independence from Britan. Although the convention was held to fix, and revise the articles, some people wanted a new form of government, and did not want the artcles anymore. "The result of the Convention was the creation of the United States Constitution, placing the Convention among the most significant events in the history of the United States." -
Georgia Ratifies US Constition
Abraham Baldwin, and William Few were the 2 georgia repersentives who signed the constitution. Georgia ratified the constitution for selfish reasons. They wanted federal government to have the power to untite the country. They also needed federal government to help fight Natives. Georgia was the 4th state to ratify it. -
Austin Dabney
Dabney was the first non-white to fight in the Revolution. He was the only black to be granted land in recognition for his bravery,l and service in the war. He was also one f few to recieve a federal militay pension. Dabney is belived to be the only black man to fight at kettle creek. -
Cotton gin intention
The cotton gin advanced cotton devolpoment in Georgia. Before the cotton gin, it took hundereds of man-hours to get even 5 pounds of cotton. With the invention, men could get up to 50 pound of cotton everyday. The invention made the cotton demand so high, that the cotton that was sold each year doubled. -
Yazoo Land Fraud.
This land fraud was where men were selling land that was not rightfully theirs. The big part about this that was illegal, was that lesilation was bribed into it. As payment for this land fraud, was that Georgia has to give up the part of its land that is now known as Alabama, and Mississippi. -
Capital Moved to Louisville
Savannah, and Augusta served as the first capitals. the reason for moving was tjhat they wanted Georgia to be more centered geographicly, and also population wise. Louisville was named after King Loise XVI, of france, who was their ally. -

Gold was discovered on Dahloneaga in the summer of 1829. There were many effects that this gold rush had on the Cherokee. Such as them losing their homes, land, and leagal rights. There was a law passed saying that cherokee could not speak against any white man (court). All cherokee laws were made null and void. Also the cherokee had no right to any gold. -

Worchester and one other man would not take the oath, because he belived that the land was under the US laws. Comprimise of 1850
This comprimise made new boarders. California wanted to enter as a free state, but the South did not like that, because their would be more free states than slave states. To make the South happy, they created the Fugitive Slave Law. This law stated that any runaway slaves would be retured. -
Kansa Nebraska Act
This act contained the terrotories of Kansa and Nebraska. Also it contained a clause on its soverenty. The North did not like it, becaus eit changed the missorri comprimise on slavery. This act created two ttpes of people, The Free-soil, and the Pro-slave. -
Fugitive slave law
This was created so that fugitive slave could not get away with running away. The law said that any run away slave had to be returned. Anyone who found a slave was required under law to return him or her. This also did not make people in the North happy because any slave who came to the North for freedom had to be returned under law. -

Dred Scot was a slave Who filed a suit for his freedom. His owner purchased him in a slave state, but then took him to live in the free state. Scot tried to sue him to gain his freedom, but the attempt was unseccessful. -

13th Amendement
The 13 Amendment was trying to complete Lincolns Emancipation Proclaimation. This amendment stated that all slaves would be completely freed. It abolished slavery, although President Andrew Jackson Made Some Changes.
It was passed in January 1865, and ratified in December 1865. -
14th amenment
this amendment was part of three amendments. 13=free, 14=citizens 15=vote. the 14th was making sure that all freed slaves became a citizen. giving them citizenship gave them many rights as citizens that they did not have when a slave. -
15th amendment
this amendment was also part of the three. this amendent gave freed slaves the right to vote. many people did not like this, so they came up with many loop holes to get around it. one of them was the grandfather clause. -

This was a court case testing the "separate but equal". Plessy sat in a white only train car, when he was 1/8 black, and 7/8 white. Jury decided to charge him, and it showed that they were separate, and not equal. It also showed that they did not with hold the constitution. -

Leo frank was a man who was tried and convicted of the murcder of a girl named Mary Phagan.Jim conley was another suspect, but was never convicted.They found eveidence againt them both, but some evidence against Leo was a lie, and Jim Conley had lied about a bunch a stuff. On August 16, The "Knights of Mary Phangan" broke into the jail where leo was and took him to be hung. On that night, he had died. -
