The team eventually played but the boycott resulted in a new rule changing how the money was handled for the players. Tension between the two leagues also stirred.

He had to deal with more criticism, discouragement, threats, and racism then anyone in American history. He changed baseball forever because African-Americans had a leader and could be more accepted playing baseball in the major leagues.

    In the year of 2002 the United States government was investigating five hundred and fifty baseball players for using steroids. Twenty of them were positive of usage. This changed how people viewed the game.
