Martin Luther King JR was a great role model for the Civil Rights Movement. Sadly before the Civil rights Movement was resolved, he was shot coming out of a motel in the morning. Many people think that his death was the one factor that ended the Movement.

Between the months of April and May, many African American students from many schools held protests at universities, so major schools being Cornell University and North Carolina A & T University in Greensboro. The protests included asking for better education for Black CHildren and the option to hire black teachers.

Because of the Civil rights movement, people had different thoughts which sadly sometimes led to fighting and death. On December 4th, A chairman of a party was shot in a police raid. No one will ever know the shooters judgement because the jury could not decide.

A doctor called Dr. Clifton Wharton Jr. was hired as the president of a Schools University in Michigan. Dr. Clifton Wharton Jr. was the first ever African America to be the president of a white university in the 1900's

New York Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm was the first ever African American to run for an office role in the Democratic presidential nomination.

Thomas Bradley is hired as a mayor of Los Angeles. Thomas Bradley is the first African American to hold the position of mayor. Surprisingly Thomas was also reelected four times after which means he was mayor for 20 years straight.

Since the Civil rights Movement was winning over and over in many places over the United States, it was granting jobs for African Americans left and right. Frank Robinson became the first ever African American manager of a Major League Baseball team which was the Cleveland Indians.

Barbara Jordan, a congresswoman who represented Texas for the government, was the first African American lady to give a speech on the keynote address at a Democratic National Convention.

Patricia Roberts Harris is the first African American lady ever to hold a cabinet position. Patricia was given the job by the president Jimmy Carter to look over the Housing and Urban Development.

The U.S. Supreme Court after the Civil Rights Movement became a lot less prejudges and not just deciding the fate of someone because of the color of their skin. This was shown off in the trail of the University v Bakke which was decided in the favor Bakke.
