  • Albany Plan

    Albany Plan
    This plan was to create a unified government for the thirteen colonies, This plan was created by benjamin franklin. More than 20 representatives met from the north atlantic colonies to plan their defense on the French and Indian War. The colonies voted to be thier own colonies, and not become one unified gov.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This was an act created by the British parliament in 1765 which put taxes on all paper for the colonists. The british were in debt because of the Seven Years War, so they looked to collect income from the colonies by putting taxes on paper. The colonists rebelled against the crown in 1766.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston massacre was known as the incident on king street. Colonists were shot and killed by British soldiers because they were being harassed on in the street. British troops were stationed in the province of Massachusetts at the time. The colonists were still mad about having to be ruled by the British so they took action.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The colonists were furious with the british parliament for putting taxes on paper, so the colonists dumped 342 barrels of imported tea into the harbor. This was the first major act of defiance against the british crown. This was the first time that the colonists tried showing their independence.
  • Intolerable acts

    This law was created to punish the colonists for their act on spilling the tea into the harbor. British soldiers were aloud to stay in any house they wanted to because they needed shelter in the colonies during the war.
  • 1st Congress

    1st Congress
    parliament passed another set of laws to punish the colonists for what happened in boston, meeting was called in Philadelphia to punish the colonists for what they did. All of the delegates from every colony except for georgia met for the meeting on september 5th 1774.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    Battles of Lexington and Concord
    These battles are what started the revolutionary war. Parliament sent soldiers to cut off the colonies harbor until they paid them back for the tea they spilled. The colonists did not agree with this so they started to rebel the king. Joseph warren and Paul revere rose horses threw the night to warn everyone that the British was on their way. There were soldiers assembled to fight the British which caused the shot heard around the world.

    2nd Congress
    The second congress meeting met in Philadelphia on MAy 10th 1775. This meeting was called after the shot heard around the world along with the other battles, this lead to make delegates believed that our compromise with britain could be no more.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The deceleration of independence came from the second continental congress meeting in the Pennsylvania state house. The deceleration explained why they were at war with great Britain and its royalty The deceleration was signed by representatives from all colonies. This was to claim that they were no longer under British rule.

    American Revolution
    The American colonies defeated the British to gain independence. This war is the reason we have the government we have now. France was an alliance for us in the war, with the help of them we won the war. From that moment forward we were the United States of America
