Hana and George watched their parents listen to the radio. After the news their parents and their friend’s parents would talk about the horrible things Hitler was planning to do to the Jewish people.

Hana and her family worked 6 days a week. Hana and George would always make sure the shelves are stocked all the time. Sunday was their family time to have fun. In the winter they would ski and skate. In the summer they would have picnics with their family members.

Hitler declares that Jews are evil. Now Hana’s family has to live by different rules. One of the rules are that Jews aren’t allowed to go outside at certain times of day.

Hana’s mother was arrested By the Gestapo (Hitler’s Secret Police) and transported to Ravensbruck (a women’s concentration camp).

Karel Brady (Hana and George’s father) comes home with three squares of cloth all with the Star of David, Jews had to wear the Star of David to indicate they were Jewish.

Hana’s Father was arrested. So Hana’s uncle took them to his house. Also, Hana’s uncle in not Jewish.

Hana was sent to Auschwitz and taken to a gas chamber. She was killed at the gas chamber right after her arrival. She was 13 at the time of death.

Adolf Hitler killed himself on April 30, 1945 with a gun. He committed suicide 10 days after his 56th birthday

George got back to Nove Mesto when the war was over. He went right to his Uncle’s house. George wondered where the rest of his family was. His Uncle told him that both his mother and father had been killed, but he didn’t know what happened to Hana. A girl named Marta told George this “Hana was sent to a Gas Chamber in Auschwitz and killed right after she arrived there”. George was very sad that all of his family had died because of the Holocaust.
