    The great depression was a national nightmare. During the 1920's many Americans had started too equate their self-worth with their material possessions. When the great depression struck, people felt worthless.

    The 20th Amendment was written because the constitution was ratified to reduce the amount of time presidents and congressmen had to push policies before the new administration and legislators took over.
  • Gold Reserve Act

    The purpose of the Gold Reserve Act was that all gold and gold certificates held by the Federal Reserve be surrendered and vested in the sole title of the United States Department of the Treasury.

    Taft was a Republican who was on Roosevelt's side against the new deal because they didn't want the government to interfere with it or assistance in people's lifes.
