Persia, in their conquest of other city-states, tries to take Greece. Athens and Sparta form a partnership in order to defeat the persians. They were successful largely due to the location of greece, its topography. -

Greece defeated the persian empire so Athens and Sparta became major powerhouses. After the battle, the two city-states signed a treaty that would instill peace. However, eventually the two powers would no longer see eye to eye and the treaty would end 30 years after it was signed. -

This was probably Alexanders hardest battle he ever fought. After years of conquering land and city-states he fought on the next to the indus river and he wanted to push on but his forces were to tired from years of war and conquest.
