  • Severe Drought

    A severe drought hits the Midwest and Southern plains. As their crops die the "Black Blizzards" start.
  • Townsend Proposes Pension Plan

    Dr. Francis Townsend sends a telegram proposing a pension for the elderly to boost consumption and employment
  • Emergency Farm Mortgage Act

    This act allows $200 million to refinance mortgages to help farmers that are facing foreclosures. This establishments local banks ans credit programs.
  • The Dust Spreads

    The dust speeds from the "Dust Bowl area". This is the worst drought in the U.S. history covering more than 75% and affecting 27 states majorly.
  • Yearbook of Agriculture

    The Yearbook of Agriculture states "Approximately 35 Million acres of formerly cultivated land have been essentially been destroyed for crop production...."
  • Social Security Created

    The Social Security act was Signed, this provides more money for the elderly in the U.S.
  • Black Sunday

    Black Sunday was the worst " black blizzard" of the Dust Bowl. This causes extreme damage.
  • Another Rescission

    After showing some improvements, the U.S. goes through another rescission, many people lose their jobs. People began to fear that the economy would never get better.
  • The dust Bowl Ends

    In the fall of 1939 rain finally comes and removes the drought. 6,500 people were killed during the Dust Bowl. The Midwest does back to normal after WWII happens, the fields are able to supply food again.
  • The Depression Ends

    Due to the the United States joining WWII, it bring in money to the U.S. This helps the U.S. economy and makes everything go back to normal.
  • Pearl Harbor Bombed

    Japan bombs Pearl Harbor, thousand of American troops are killed. The United states joins WWII.
