  • The Anschluiss

    The Anschluiss
    The Anschluss was Hitler's first stradegy which purpose was for the Germans to connect with the people of Austria (the annexation of Austria into Germany). By doing this, they would gain food supplies, defences, and soldiers and creat the Thrid Reich. Germany threatened to invade Austriaif Nazi soilders were not given important positions. The chancellor of Austria, Kert Schuschnigg did o out of frear of Hitler. The unification was accepted by the Austrian people.
  • The Munich Conference

    The Munich Conference
    Along with Austria, Hitler also wanted to take control of the "Sudetenland" region of Czechslovakia and make the territory a part of Germany. He claimed that the German speaking inhabitants of this land were being mistreated by the Czech government. France and the Soviet Union were on the Czecs side in case Hitler were to invade, The Munich Conference was called and an agreement was made that Hitler could have the Sudetenland if he promised not to invade any more of their land.

    The Nazi Soviet Pact
    Germany and the Soviet Union signed the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact, which guaranteed that the two countries would not attack each other. This pact protected Germany from having to fight a two-front war in an upcoming World War II. The Soviet Union was awarded land, including parts of Poland and the Baltic States. The pact was later broken when Germany attacked the Soviet Union in 1941.

    Danzig and the Polish Corridor
    After taking the Sudentenland, Hitler wanted to also take control of Danzig which was part of Germany seperated by Poland at tge end of World War I. Hitler wanted to take control of this land because he wanted to build a highway and railroad across Poland to connect Germany, Danzig and East Prussia. On September 1, a German battleship arrived to support the German takeove.
  • The War Begins

    The War Begins
    Germany invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939 and there was an invasion from the Soviet Union from the east. Two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany.
